Have you ever felt your days and nights getting warmer and your rains lasting longer? Well, most of us have experienced this change in our lives at least in the past few years.
The cause of this change is directly resultant to global warming.
Global warming is a phenomenon were the temperature of a given area increases over a period of time. This is caused due to harmful ultraviolet rays entering the earth through the earth’s ozone layer. Ozone layer is a protective layer which screens the ultraviolet rays of the sun, but in the recent years the layer has been depleting and holes have started to form in the layer which results in global warming.
These holes in the layer are caused due to a high-level presence of CFC(Chlorofluorocarbons) and halons in the atmosphere. This gas causes a chemical reaction that causes ozone depletion which in turn causes global warming. Previously the scientists had performed an evaluation on how much temperature difference global warming could cause in the next few years of time and had come to a conclusion of around 1.5 degree Celsius. A latest research which was conducted by 25 scientists across the world shows that the temperature change can exceed 1 degree Celsius more than the previously calculated figure of 1.5 degree Celsius. This could result in the extinction of many wildlife creatures in next few decades.
One way to reduce global warming is by reducing or stopping the usage of day to day commodities such as deodorants and other caned sprays that have CFC in them.
Other ways include:
-
Using natural and renewable energy over combustible energy
-
Using energy efficient machinery
-
Holding factories responsible and making them use technology that neutralises harmful gases
-
Using led bulbs
-
Maintaining our vehicles
-
Disposing waste effectively
The above our just a few starting tips that we can practice which can help in reducing ozone depletion which in turn reduces global warming. In the current pace our world is set in a path of destruction from which we may not recover. It is up to us to see that our world remains intact for the future generations to come. Let’s hold our hands together and make a better future.
