Advantages of Recycling Plastic- Latest Trends and Techniques

A new way of recycling plastic has formed where the cost of doing it is just a fraction of the earlier cost 

Plastic waste has been a bane for the human population for years now. Plastic has proved to have more disadvantages than advantages especially since it takes hundreds of years to fully decompose. Once the use of plastic is over its either thrown into dumps or burned. Both these mechanisms have their disadvantages. Burning plastic causes air pollution and release of harmful chemicals and dumping it clogs the soil and makes the land barren. As years come by more landfills are made to dispose of such harmful materials reducing the productivity of the land in whole and it creates plots where the land is of no use to anyone. 

One effective way of disposing plastic is by recycling it. Since that doesn’t yield much profit people totally ignores it. Other materials like cans glass etc. proved to be more profitable to people and thus those are some of the most recycled materials these days and plastic gets ignored completely. 

Currently, a new way of recycling has formed where the cost of doing it is just a fraction of the cost which was incurred earlier.

People 3D paint these objects and turn them into valuable objects like toys accessories garden products etc. which are then bought by others at a fair price. This process is called DRAM or (distributed recycling and additive manufacturing). 

How does this process work?

Well, the answer to this isn’t that complicated. It starts from the point where waste materials like broken plastic utilities etc. are collected for recycling. Once the materials are collected, they are washed using soap and water to make it clean. Once that is done it is shredded into smaller pieces using things like CD shredder, paper cutter etc.

Once that is done there are a few things you can do for your next step. One is to turn it into 3D printer filament which costs around 10 dollars for every 400 grams or so. Since it is cheap the demand for this material is high compared to the commercial filament. Another way or the newer approach is to use particle fabrication and directly 3D print the shredded waste plastic into products.

Like mentioned above there are many effective ways in which plastic wastes can be effectively recycled these days.

It is not just saving the environment but also has a positive effect on the economy as a lot of resources can be saved and also generate income for people doing the same.
