Rigorous Smart City Development can curb Reverse Migration
Bangalore, The Silicon City of Karnataka has a huge population which is a floating one. Many have moved out of the city, as the lockdown permitted people to work from home or settle down in smaller towns.
The Urban Development Minister of Karnataka, Mr Byrati Basavraj is having a plan for all the cities including the 7 smart cities- Bengaluru, Belagavi, Davangere, Hubballi-Dharwad, Mangaluru, Shivamogga, and Tumakuru, as he spoke to Manjunath Gangadhar of SmartSustain.
The State government has sought the inclusion of four more cities — Vijayapura, Ballari, Kalaburagi and Mysuru — under the Smart City Scheme and appealed to the Union government to include these places under the scheme to ensure their overall development as per Urban Development Minister Byrati Basavaraj.
A project for drinking water and underground drainage network has been submitted which would solve the water management issues in the state.
The government is speeding up the smart city projects. The Green Corridor project and the development of Bengeri Market are projects which are in the list.
The Urban Development Minister and the Chief Minister had visited various workplaces to check the progress of work and also interacted with the worker communities to know whether they had any grievances.
