The industrial revolution in late 18th century has led countries in the fighting over the natural resources, more industries were set up, forests were cut down, the colony became the worst victim of supply resource to the imperial power without any benefit for their own growth.
The cry on Environment protection has raised many instances in the 20th century.
In India, the Chipko movement is an example of people movement who have resisted against deforestation. The conservation of wild life took importance; the project “Tiger” introduced to protect the decline of the tiger population. We need to protect the resources in a way the future generation demand can be fulfilled.
United Nations Conference on Environment and Development (UNCED), byname Earth Summit, a conference held at Rio de Janeiro, Brazil (June 3–14, 1992), to reconcile worldwide economic development with protection of the environment. By means of treaties and other documents signed at the conference, most of the world’s nations nominally committed themselves to the pursuit of economic development in ways that would protect the Earth’s environment and non-renewable resources.
The Millennium Development Goals are : (1) eradicate extreme poverty and hunger; (2) achieve universal primary education; (3) promote gender equality and empower women; (4) reduce child mortality; (5) improve maternal health; (6) combat HIV/AIDS, malaria and other diseases; (7) ensure environmental sustainability; and (8) develop a global partnership for development
The Sustainable Development Goal was introduced in 2015 broadening its goal target to be achieved by 2030.
