World Water Day 2021 – Value Water or Else There is no Future

What does water mean? To me? To you?To them? To us?

In households and workplaces, water is health, hygiene, dignity and productivity. At cultural, religious and spiritual places it is connected with creation, community and one’s own self. In natural spaces, water is peace, harmony, positivity and preservation.

With economic growth and explosion in population, agriculture and industry are getting deprived of water. Water-based energy generation was on the rise to meet the demand when the UN declared March 22 as World Water Day.

Climate change is making water more erratic and contributing to pollution.

By observing World Water Day, all the different ways in which water benefits our lives would be valued so that we can safeguard it effectively for everyone.

This year’s theme for World Water Day is about what water means to people, it’s a true value and how we can better protect this vital resource. The value of water is much more than its price. If we overlook any of these values, we risk mismanaging this finite, irreplaceable resource.

Better access to water can help create new possibilities for people in the most remote communities. The prevalent neglected tropical diseases can be eradicated by the availability of potable water and clean surrounding, which water only can provide.

The idea is not to dig wells and ponds but to make this resource sustainable. This can eradicate diseases, improve living standards and make the environment healthy.
