The worst form of inequality is to try to make unequal things equal…- Aristotle
Inequalities need to be accepted and worked upon. We have reached a breaking point where inequality needs to be addressed on a priority basis. Sustainable Development Goal 10 is about reducing inequalities and is one of the 17 SDGs proclaimed by the United Nations in 2015.
Vision Statement of the SDG 10 is “Reduce inequality within and among countries”. It has ten targets to be achieved by 2030.
Present times are challenging for Building a World of Equality. Many a time people are denied to live a life of dignity and respect. Inequalities can be observed in the country and among the countries. In our day to day lives, we observe Gender inequality, income inequality, health inequality, education inequality, unemployment inequality, age, sex, disability, race, ethnicity inequalities too name some. Natural resource depletion, land degradation, freshwater scarcity, drought and the present Covid_19 times have further multiplied the inequalities. The most vulnerable people i.e., Senior citizens, people with disabilities, children, women, migrants, and refugees are hardest hit by Covid_19.
SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities is all about Human Development. It is linked to many of the other SDGs, such as No Poverty (SDG 1), Zero Hunger (SDG 2), Good Health and Wellbeing (SDG 3), Gender Equality (SDG 5), Clean Water and Sanitation (SDG 6), Sustainable Cities and Communities, (SDG 11), Peaceful and Inclusive Societies (SDG 16).
Let’s Rise Up for bridging this gap of inequalities!
Let’s Rise Up and ensure Equal Opportunities and End Discrimination!
Let’s Rise Up and Promote Universal Social, Economic and Political Inclusion!
