Climate activist Greta Thunberg #Student, message for the world leaders on 23rd September 2019 at UN Headquarters.

“My message is that we’ll be watching you”. “This is all wrong. I shouldn’t be up here. I should be back in school on the other side of the ocean. Yet you all come to us young people for hope. How dare you!”

This message by the young student keeps ringing the bell in the ears of us the educators. Our responsibility to address the real-life problems in the world out there and then linking them with the curriculum in our classroom has now become a much-needed priority.

FFF – Fridays for Future, a movement started by Greta Thunberg, is an international climate act of school students who miss Friday’s classes to participate in School Strike for Climate. The students are demanding action from political leaders to take action for Climate Change and action against the fossil fuel industry. The students recommend the use of renewable energy. True, the use of solar energy and wind energy can stop climate change or at least slow it down.

The schools should now join their own students and Rise Up to fight the in-different approach by the governments. The vision statement for SDG13 is “Take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts“. The Goal has 5 targets to be achieved by 2030. The schools need to take urgent action and this Student-led movement should be Kept Alive! Kept Going!

“The Future Belongs to Those Who dream with their eyes open. They believe in the future they see in their Dreams”. And this future belongs to the students, The Future is the place where the students would spend rest of their lives. Let the students carve their own future. The Fridays for Future school strike by the students have brought Passion, Hope and given direction to stand up and fight climate change. We the educators need to stand up with our students for their fight for their future.

Let Schools be the place where history is written!

Let Schools be the place where future is designed!

Let School be the place where dreams are realized!

Lets’ not stand and stare. Let’s take action. Lets’ RiseUp4SDG13!
