The shift of focus to electric vehicles at a global level is prominent

With the climate crisis going headstrong the global community has finally acknowledged that climate change is a serious issue and something has to be done about it. Countries worldwide have started to look for alternate methods to cut down emission rates in their region. One such advancement is the increase in the use of EV’s at a global level. From the traditional vehicles that depend on fossil fuel to power them the focus has shifted to electric vehicles which have zero-emission rate and is considered to be ecofriendly.

Now there are many brands of EV’s available in the market these days. Some are good and some aren’t! So how do we differentiate? It is not just the brand that matters for people these days but also the cost as they should be able to afford them. Keeping those factors in mind here are some popular EV brands that have made a mark for themselves. 
  1. Tesla: Tesla is considered to be the market leader when it comes to EV globally. They make some of the best in class and segment vehicles. They are known for their CUV’s and Sedans. In India, they are yet to start their operations but are expected to enter the Indian market by this year-end.
  2. Volkswagen: Volkswagen is a German automobile manufacturer which makes top-class EVs and normal vehicles alike. They have many sub-brands like Volkswagen, Audi, SEAT, ŠKODA, Bentley, Bugatti, Lamborghini, Porsche, Ducati, Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles, Scania, and MAN under them. They make electric vehicles for all segments and plan to release EV’s in the future. The company and its sub-companies currently offer over a dozen models of electric vehicles in both the hybrid and battery-electric versions.
  3. Nissan: Nissan is a Japanese car maker that is currently one of the world’s largest EV manufacturers. Their model Leaf is considered to be the most sold EV’s in the world. It is an affordable model of EV which makes it popular and the company has sold thousands of units worldwide.
  4. Ford: Ford is an American-based manufacturing company that has released numerous EV’s across the world! The company has its cars in India as well. Ford Focus electric is one of its most renowned EVs in the market.
  5. TATA: Then we have our nation’s own carmaker the TATA group that has sub companies such as Jaguar and Landrover. Nexon is one of the top-selling EV brands in India. It is affordable and efficient. One of its perks is that since it’s an Indian car it’s easily available in the market. TATA has said that it would release more vehicles in the EV segment in the coming years.
 These companies make the top of the list based on the quality of their products there are many other companies that make EV’s as well such as the Mercedes and BMW but the availability of these cars in India are less comparatively.
