The demand for electric vehicles is more as the automotive industry is steadily transitioning towards electrification
Tesla inc, one of the top EV manufacturers in the world recently made a new record by delivering close to 2,41,300 electric vehicles worldwide in its third-quarter thereby setting the bars high again. The numbers of the quarterly deliveries are closely observed by Tesla corporation as it helps them understand the demand for electric vehicles as the automotive industry is steadily transitioning towards electrification.
In early September the Tesla chief Elon Musk had sent an email to his employees urging them to “go super hardcore” in order to “ensure a decent Q3 delivery number,” and these numbers indeed looked more than satisfactory.
Tesla has also released a statement on how the company would like to thank all the customers for being patient as the EV brand had to deal with supply and logistics issues, mentioned in the report.
As per the report the company has informed that deliveries of Tesla Model 3 and Y constituted about 96 per cent of electric cars that were shipped to the other countries. The final delivery number surpassed the average projection of the 2,21,952 that Tesla had sent to its investors. Tesla has delivered 40,050 more EVs in this quarter compared to the earlier one.
An analyst Dan Ives from Wedbush Securities, a private investment firm shared that these numbers are indeed shattering some records. “With the chip shortage a major overhang on the auto space and logistical issues globally these delivery numbers were “eye-popping” and speaks to an EV demand trajectory that looks quite robust for Tesla heading into 4Q and 2022,” he was quoted by Bloomberg.
Tesla‘s latest delivery numbers show that the EV company has fared well despite the ongoing global semiconductor shortage that has impacted many automakers. General Motors took a big hit as its sales in its home market dropped by a third in the third quarter.
Tesla is all set to enter the Indian markets this quarter. The company in fact took its model 3 for a test drive in Delhi recently with the MoRTH secretary Giridhar Aramane. The launch of this EV giant in India is quite close at hand. There were speculations about it since early 2020 though they were just like whispers. Now that it’s close car enthusiasts are quite happy to know that it will be launched soon. People have already started trying to place orders with the company though none of it will be confirmed until the brand officially launches in India. It also plans to set shop in many of the European countries soon as there has been a recent rise in demand for these cars in the continent.
