BMW and Nissan Brings Electric Cars in South Africa – The Start of a New Revolution

Many prominent car makers such as Nissan and BMW are getting set to bring electric cars into South Africa, one of the developing countries in the continent of Africa. With the aim of achieving a greener world, the vehicle industry stands unified with the government to begin this long and arduous task.

They aim to reduce the tariffs on the import of electric vehicles and other necessary parts required for the smooth functioning of the vehicles. They also aim to set up infrastructural plants in order to manufacture them  This is just the first of many steps that need to be taken to bring this plan into motion in the country. South Africa is the epicenter for Autocar manufacturing in the entire African continent and it exports the vehicles which are manufactured to other regions in and around Europe. Though due to the current pandemic situation the plans for the development have slowed down immensely it is hoped that it will come to fruition in the near future. Another issue they face is the monopoly by the South African government and the unstable financial situations of the nation.

Not everyone will be capable of affording electric cars and therefore the production rate will be determined in terms of the number of cars that are being exported yearly.

The world is currently trying to revolutionize the automobile industry by boosting the research and production of electric vehicles all across the globe. This is so that the emission levels can be brought down immensely so as to promote a greener and healthier lifestyle for the people. Currently, Global Warming is rising at an alarming pace and it has had its effects on the climate across the globe. It was decided in 2015 that we needed to revolutionize all sectors including the vehicles industry in order to slow the process and also reverse it in due course of time. As a result, all the main car manufacturing companies turned their focus to the electric vehicle sector. Even though the plan is still at its early stages they are working towards achieving it. The main issues faced by these sectors include lack of infrastructure, types of machinery, and other important components.

Many countries such as the US, the UK, France, Germany, and India have already started focusing on improving and developing these infrastructures so as to incorporate electric vehicles on their roads.
