The Electricity Mobility market is a progressing and developing one hence, it requires big mobility companies to come forward and take the charge of giving the E-Mobility upsurge a much-wanted boost so that the pace of the transition to Electric Vehicles is fostered. Ola Electric Mobility (Ola Electric), the Cab transportation network company’s electric operations handling unit, has appointed the former top executive as a member of the company’s Board of Directors.

Jamie Ardila was formerly executive vice president and president of General Motors’ South American operations, reporting to the company’s chief executive officer, and a member of the General Motors Executive Committee from 2010 until his retirement in March 2016. Prior to being appointed the executive vice president and president of General Motors South America in 2010, Jaime was president of GM’s operations in Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay, and Paraguay. Previously, he was vice president and chief financial officer for Latin America, Africa, and the Middle East region. He currently serves as the chairman of the board for Goldman Sachs BDC Inc, a member of the board for Accenture PLC, Nexa Resources and is also the founder of Hawksbill Group.

“Mobility is going through a global transformation as we build solutions to improve air quality, make clean energy more accessible and reduce fossil fuel dependence. Ola Electric has been reimagining electric mobility for the world and has emerged as the fastest-growing unicorn,” said  Jaime Ardila. “Our ambition and capabilities of fostering the adoption of electric mobility at scale will have a deep impact on the mobility landscape in India and beyond. I look forward to working closely with the team at Ola Electric on their mission to electrify mobility at scale, for the masses,” said Ardila.

Appointing of Jamie Ardila specifies the fact that Ola is focusing on building global businesses and to expand its electric unit to a large scale. Thus, this is a very big step in this direction.

“Jaime (Ardila) is a visionary who has been at the helm of the automobile evolution across several countries in the world. As we build new and more sustainable modes of mobility, Jaime’s deep industry expertise and global experience will be an invaluable addition,” said Bhavish Aggarwal, co-founder, and CEO, Ola.

Ola is currently running several pilots across India to deploy electric vehicles and charging infrastructure, including battery swapping stations, primarily focused on developing a viable value proposition for the consumer.
