Gmail down?

Gmail, the email service of Google, is one of the top email services used by people worldwide with active users accounting over 1.5 billion.  Launched in April 2004, Gmail has successfully travelled 15 years and have meticulously rendered a smooth access to its users. This Thursday morning, there were lots of complaints on twitter by people on the glitches faced while using Gmail. Though there were issues with Google Drive, G suite, Meet and Hangouts, G mail was predominantly affected.  Users complained on the inability to upload attachments and send mails which eventually affected the work flow of people.

With the global outbreak of Corona Virus, almost all MNCs have shifted from normal work routine to ‘Work From Home’ module in order to adopt the working style in the pandemic.  Work From Home have made people highly dependent on Gmail, which unfortunately faced an outage not only in India but Globally.  This is the second time in the span of two months where a widespread issue of Gmail is reported.  DownDetector, the tracking website reported with 2,737 complaints on the glitches of Gmail by 12 in the afternoon of the same day.  Even Google apps have updated the status on the complaints received and promised to solve it by mid afternoon.

Google, which managed to fix the problems by mid afternoon for some users, didn’t offer any valid reason for the technical glitch that happened. Instead Google apologized for the inconvenience caused by the global outage and instilled hope of fixing the problem.
