Government-run schools in Delhi plan to invest 8.5 crores in purchasing and setting up solar panels capable of generating electricity in order to go clean and save 8.85 crores of rupees by selling the energy and reducing their electricity bill at the same time.
This will help them get an income each year apart from the reduction in the bill. The initial expenses may be a bit high, costing around 8.5 crores to set things up, but in the long run, it will provide electricity to nearby households as well as reduce the intake of non-renewable energy.
This is just one among many projects that have been planned across India.
It’s not just India but many other nations like the US, UK and even developing countries such as South Africa have turned their attention to solar energy. When we say clean energy it means this energy has no side effects like causing pollution and it is totally renewable as the sun’s energy will not cease. The need for such energy has become utmost importance for the entire globe as in the current pace it is estimated that we will fully consume non-renewable resources and empty it in just a few decades time. It is also estimated that if due to pollution the climate keeps changing at a rapid pace the earth will face a situation of epic proportions that will drive all life on earth to extinction. In order to preserve our earth along with its resources for future generation clean energy has become the need of the hour.
To make positive changes it is necessary that we change everything right from the roots.
Though the solar industry is still in infancy and the full potential of solar energy is yet to be unlocked solar energy can be used by a great deal as sunlight is present practically everywhere and generating it costs us nothing but the cost of the equipment. It has almost a lifespan of 20 years which is a long-term investment for not just corporate companies but also for small households.
The initiative made by the Delhi government requires praise as they set a good example for other states as well. Let’s join our hands in going green and saving the world.
