Micro Small and Medium enterprises or also called MSME is an initiative introduced by the Government of India which is based on the Micro Small and Medium enterprises development (MSMED) act of 2006 and are entities which engage themselves in the field of manufacturing, producing, preserving or processing of commodities and goods. It provides employment to the poor people of our nation and It is the backbone of our economy that has contributed to our nation’s socio-economic growth.
One of the main issues MSME faces these days is issues with electricity for which solar energy can be the answer.
The technique of capturing solar energy is considered to be a very expensive procedure, but they have a lot of perks once installed and harnessed.
The advantages of this process are:
- It is a renewable form of energy and which makes the source of sunlight which is never-ending into a sustainable form of energy.
- It reduces electricity bills as once solar panels are installed and the power harnessed it can act as the primary form of electricity for these companies. Electricity can also be stored so that the supply will last all through the day including at night when this energy can’t be attained.
- Once these panels are installed, they have a very low maintenance cost at least for two decades (unless these panels get damaged and replacement is required).
- It can act as a way of attaining electricity or even be used as a mode for the heating procedure. It provides electricity to areas without a power grid as well. There are many ways to install these panels like e.g.: Some industries use it as windows etc.
- This form of energy still is a work in progress but in the future scientists claim they can make this a formidable source of energy so if it has the capability to provide electricity to large industries now the potential is greater in the future.
One of the main disadvantages of this form of electricity is that it is costly to install and many MSME may find it difficult at first to install and run them. The central government feels it’s a very viable idea if state governments waive off the transmission charges levied by them.
