People Unite, Take Action, Create Lasting Changes – Rotary Bangalore Parisara

The Climate Is Not Going To Be Better, It Is Time For Action

Apart from natural causes, the environment is damaged by humans. There have been quite a number of initiatives to stop or reverse these damages, and this becomes all the more important with the 2030 Agenda in front of us.

A bunch of committed Rotarians met together with their cause-based initiative Rotary Bangalore Parisara led by eminent citizens from various walks of life.

Rotary Bangalore Parisara, part of Rotary Bangalore Peenya was inaugurated on the auspicious day of VaraMahalakshmi Pooja Day at  Bangalore and this opened up the whole new possibilities towards solving environmental issues.

In his inspiring and thought provoking speech, Mr Prakash Belawadi, the veteran actor, pointed into the hazards of climate change and the relevance of a recent IPCC report explaining how climate change affects biodiversity. He is hopeful that the Rotary has taken its initiative forward to include the environment as a whole, rather than limiting the action to urban ecology. He expressed his faith in the plan Rotary has for this year and the coming years towards environmental restoration.

The other areas which Rotary Bangalore Parisara would focus on are carbon footprint reduction, afforestation, electromagnetic radiation protection, repair and restoration of freshwater resources, community engagement, solid waste management, partnering with relevant NGOs, creating awareness in education through seminars are some of them. They would be the pollinators of ideas, enablers of projects, implementers of what is within their reach, as told by Nagesh Sidhanti, the chairperson of Rotary Bangalore Parisara.

Mr Manjunath, on behalf of Smart Sustain, was part of the event as Smart Sustain would be working closely with this innovative entity of Rotary Club of Bangalore.
