Premium Urban Air Mobility
Porsche is looking to enhance its scope

Ever wondered if there were gonna be flying vehicles in the future? Say no more, German automobile manufacturer specializing in high-performance sports cars, SUVs and sedans, Porsche is up for it. It signed a Memorandum of understanding (MOU) with airplanes, Motorcraft, rockets, satellites, telecommunications equipment-giant, Boeing.

With two big companies signing  “premium” the electric vertical takeoff & landing (eVTOL) aircraft market deal flying cars are not too far from reality.

Porsche plans on designing a premium eVTOL aircraft and who better than Boeing in the aerodynamics, therefore, the memorandum.

“Porsche is looking to enhance its scope as a sports car manufacturer by becoming a leading brand for premium mobility. In the longer term, this could mean moving into the third dimension of travel, We are combining the strengths of two leading global companies to address a potential key market segment of the future.”, says Detlev von Platen, Member of the Executive Board for Sales and Marketing at Porsche A.G.

“This collaboration builds on our efforts to develop a safe and efficient new mobility ecosystem, and provides an opportunity to investigate the development of a premium urban air mobility vehicle with a leading automotive brand. … Porsche and Boeing together bring precision engineering, style and innovation to accelerate urban air mobility worldwide.”, said Boeing Next’s Vice President and General Manager Steve Nordlund in its recent press release.

As to Porsche, it wants to see how it can add its premium car expertise to the air. The company conducted a study in 2018 forecasting that the UAM market will pick up speed after 2025.

This could be the next big thing to revolutionize the tech and mobility worlds and as of the byproduct, we could see a sky filled with flying cars.

This is on par with what most eVTOL and electric conventional takeoff and landing (eCTOL) aviation companies say. NASA also sees the commercialization and viability of UAM happening between 2025 to 2030.
