India’s Renewable Energy will be increased 450GW. Earlier the Commitment was to generate 175GW of Renewable Energy by 2022 as stated by PM Narendra Modi under the Paris Climate Agreement.
The Governments of the developed and developing nations across the globe are trying to lay as much of emphasis on the generation and consumption of the Renewable Energy as they can, in order to fight the Hercule problems like Climate change, Environmental Degradation, etc.
“India today has come not just to talk about the seriousness of the issue, but to present a practical approach and a roadmap. We believe an ounce of practice is better than a tonne of preaching. What is needed today is a comprehensive approach which covers education, values and everything from lifestyle to developmental philosophy… What we need is a global people’s movement to bring about behavioral change,” said the PM Modi addressing the climate summit at UN headquarters in New York on September 23, 2019.
India’s Electrical power targets for 2022:
India’s policy for renewable energy stated the 2022 electrical power targets includes achieving 227GW (earlier 175 GW) of energy from renewable sources – nearly 113 GW through solar power, 66 GW from wind power, 10 GW from biomass, 5GW from small hydro and 31GW from floating solar and offshore wind power.
Not only the induction in the target of renewable energy but also PM Modi added that India would spend approximately $50 billion “in the next few years” on the Jal Jeevan Mission to conserve water, harvest rainwater and develop water resources.
SERIES OF NEW STEPS TO BE TAKEN
PM Modi went on and announced two international initiatives. First, a platform that includes Sweden and other countries, for governments and the private sector to work together to develop low carbon pathways for the industry.
Second, a Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure. This initiative was approved by the Union Cabinet last month and ₹480 crores have been allocated for technical assistance and projects.
The U.K., Australia and island nations such as Fiji and the Maldives will be part of this coalition.
These changes are to be made with the vision of reducing and eventually eliminating the Global problems related to climate and environment. Although the decision of taking these steps can be considered as a wise one. Outcomes to be analyzed after implementation.
