Designated as the nodal agency for the implementation of phase two of the Soura Gruha Yojane, BESCOM (Bengaluru Electricity Supply Company) has launched a campaign, offering 20%-40% of the project cost as subsidy to individual houses, group housing communities and resident welfare associations to install rooftop solar units.

The aim is to install 5900MW of solar rooftop capacity in Bangalore.

The subsidy is open to all those who apply between  16th and  25th   of March 2020 for setting up 1kW to 10kW SRTPV units on their rooftops. Online applications are available during this period.

The applications could close earlier once the capacity fulfillment of 60 MW for individual apartments and 30 MW for group housing societies and Residential Welfare Associations is reached.

Consumers can sell excess power to BESCOM for 25 years through net metering.

Authorized service providers who win the bid will implement this scheme. Central financial assistance (CFA) from the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) is given based on specific criteria.
